Maya Stovall:
Under New Ownership

For Under New Ownership, an exhibition of Maya Stovall’s work at Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture, the design drew from the visual language of corner and liquor store signage in the McDougall-Hunt neighborhood of Detroit, the setting for one of Stovall’s featured projects. This was particularly noticeable on the exhibition’s title wall, where a combination of 2D and 3D elements mirrored the urban backdrop of her “Liquor Store Theater” performances.
